Anglo-Saxon gold hoard needs £2.7 m to stay in West Midlands
Time may be running out for fundraisers hoping to raise the £2.7 million that is needed for the largest collection of gold treasure ever found in the UK to remain in the West Midlands, it has been suggested.
Despite the backing of various celebrities such as Dame Judi Dench, Tony Robinson and television historian Dr David Starkey, only £560,000 has been donated to the fund for the gold hoard, which was valued in November at £3.3 million, reports the Birmingham Mail.
